2010 Municipal Election |
Municipal Elections in Ontario are governed under the Ontario Municipal Elections Act, 1996 and are held every four (4) years. Effective 2010, Voting Day for regular Municipal Elections is the fourth Monday in October with the next regular Municipal Election in Ontario to be held on Monday, October 25, 2010.
Filing of Nomination Papers
Municipal Elections are administered by the Clerk under the authority of the Municipal Elections Act. Section 33(1) of the Municipal Elections Act provides that a person may be nominated for an office by filing a nomination in the Clerk's Office in person or by an agent. The nomination and a declaration of qualification, both on the prescribed Form 1, signed by the person being nominated and accompanied by the prescribed nomination filing fee are to be submitted to the Returning Officer before the date indicated below. Facsimiles or electronic copies will not be accepted.
Nominations may be filed with the Clerk during normal office hours until Friday, September 10, 2010 for the offices listed below. The office will be open on Nomination Day, Friday, September 10, 2010 from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

Voter Information
Eligibilty to Vote
A person is entitle to be an elector at an election held in Terrace Bay if, on voting day, he or she resides in Terrace Bay or is the owner or tenant of land in Terrace Bay of the spouse or same-sex partner of such owner or tenant;
A person is NOT qualified to vote for a member of a school board for an area unless the person resides in the area on voting day. This does not apply, however, to an owner of residential property in the area, or to the spouse or same-sex partner of that person.
