Information on the April 28, 2012 Event
The Township of Terrace Bay, in partnership with Orange Drop is hosting a recycling depot for hazardous waste on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 1pm to 4pm at the Terrace Bay Tourism Information Centre. Collection will take place in the Tourism Information Centre parking lot at 1 Selkirk Avenue and will be a drive thru style with residents guided through pylons and unloading with the help of volunteers.
The hazardous waste day will
not allow the dropoff of electronic waste. Residents can leave their electronic waste at the curb during Spring Cleanup week or dropoff at the electronic waste depot at the Terrace Bay Landfill anytime during regular landfill hours.
The event is open to households from both Terrace Bay and Schreiber.
Eligible Hazardous Waste Materials

Anti-freeze,
-
Fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, pesticides & containers,
-
Oil containers of 30 liters or less and used oil filters,
-
Paints and coatings and their containers,
-
Pressurized containers such as propane tanks,
-
Single use batteries (including car batteries),
-
Solvents and paint strippers
Orange Drop is an industry-funded recycling program aimed at keeping hazardous and special waste materials out of Ontario’s landfills and waterways. The Orange Drop Program allows Ontarians to return designated materials to local Municipal HHW Depots, retail sites and collection events across Ontario. Visit the Orange Drop website.
