MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

Membership in the Terrace Bay Recreation Centre is mandatory for all organized recreational activities that take place in Recreation Centre Facilities. Complete membership details are available from the Recreation Office.
 
The following types of memberships are available:

The Recreation Centre offers many activities and programs thoughout the year. We are always looking for new ideas and welcome any suggestions.

Fitness Programs / Special Interest Courses

The Recreation Centre is always looking for any new ideas for special interest courses. If you are interested in instructing a course, contact the Recreation Office at 825-3315 ext.225
 

RECREATION FEES

Membership in the Terrace Bay Recreation Centre is mandatory for all organized recreational activities that take place in the Recreation Centre Facilities. Annual memberships run from June 1st to June 1st of the following year. The following fees apply to memberships and other services offered:

MEMBERSHIP POLICIES
Membership Options
All persons who are using/participating in the Township of Terrace Bay's recreational facilities or programs must be a current recreation member. Non-members using/participating in the Township's facilities or programs will be charged a non-member fee.
 
The following memberships are available to accommodate different recreational needs:
  • Full Memberships
  • Short-Term Memberships
  • Single Activity Membership
Temporary Resident Memberships
Available to temporary residents and post secondary students only.
 
This membership can only be renewed if the membership has been discontinued for a full 8 months prior to the purchase of a renewed membership.
 
If the member is still residing in the Township of Terrace Bay, after this membership has expired and wishes to continue their recreation membership, he/she must purchase one of the other membership options.
 
MEMBERSHIP PRIVILEGES
 
Full and Short-Term Memberships
  • Full facility use at no charge - includes squash, racquetball, wallyball, fitness room, sauna, open bowling, public swimming, and public skating.
  • Reduced rates for recreational programs.

Single Activity Memberships

  • Enables the person to participate in one organized leaque only.
  • No other membership privileges apply.
MEMBERSHIP POLICIES/DEFINITIONS
Recreation memberships must be on a continual basis and dues must be paid by the deadline of JUNE 1st of each year.
 
Late Recreation Memberships will not be pro-rated.
 
Memberships purchased after JUNE 1st, will be pro-rated on a monthly basis, under the following conditions only:
  • it is a first time membership.  The membership has been discontinued for one complete year prior to the purchase of a renewed membership.
Membership in the Terrace Bay Community Centre is mandatory for all organized recreational activities that take place in the Community Centre Facilities.
 
FAMILY DEFINITION
All immediate dependents who are non-working or students under the age of 25 years.
 
RESIDENT DEFINITION
Must be a resident or property owner within the Township of Terrace Bay.
 
NON RESIDENT DEFINITION
Non-residents or non-property owners within the Township of Terrace Bay.
 
SENIOR DEFINITION
A senior is 65 years and older, and applies to the individual only, not the family.
 
FAMILY FULL DEFINITION
A family is two or more persons
 
SINGLE FULL DEFINITION
A single is one person only.
 
General Membership Rules
  • All recreation users/members are expected to abide by policies and procedures, implemented by the Recreation Department.
  • Organizations are responsible to see that their participants are also current recreation members and must follow one of the two following procedures: 1) Pay the recreation membership to the Recreation Department for each non-member and then collect from the persons in question. 2) Include the recreation membership fee with the club membership fee for all non-members and remit it to the Recreation Department.
  • All widows/widowers and senior citizens (over 65) will be provided with a free membership upon request.
  • Any financially restricted individuals can contact the Recreation Office regarding access to recreational services and facilities.
  • All special requests regarding recreation services and facilities should be directed to the Community Development Supervisor. 
  • A 'program' is organized and administered by the Recreation Department
  • An 'activity' is organized and administered by a volunteer executive.

Recreation Centre General Rules

Recreation Facility
 
These rules apply to all persons in all facilities and programs under the control of the Terrace Bay Recreation Department.
  • The use of improper, profane, obscene or abusive language is not permitted.
  • Courtesy and respect is expected to be shown to others at all times.
  • Litter is to be disposed of in a proper waste receptacle.
  • Possession of illegal or unauthorized drugs is not permitted
  • Liquor is not permitted, except under the authority of a proper license issued by the Liquor License Board of Ontario.
  • All accidents involving personal injury or damage to property are to be reported to the Recreation Office or Recreation Staff immediately.
  • All damaged or mal-functioning equipment is to be reported to the Recreation Office or Recreation Staff, by completing a proper work order form, located in the Recreation Office.
  • The Recreation Department will not be responsible for any lost of stolen articles.
Squash, Racquetball & Wallyball
  • Court bookings are 45 minutes in duration
  • Maximum of two consecutive court reservations.
  • Proper 'non-marking' footwear must be worn. No streetshoes are allowed.
  • Persons playing squash and racquetball my be at least 15 years of age to use the courts. Those persons between the ages of 8-14 years will also be eligible to use the courts, provided they have taken a beginner's instructional program, offered by the Recreation Department or are supervised by a person 15 years and over.
  • Persons playing Wallyball under the age of 12 must be supervised by a person 15 years and over.
  • Recreation members have the privilege of reserving a court 3 days in advance. Non-members can only reserve a court on the same day.
  • Protective eye-wear is mandatory for persons playing squash or racquetball.
  • All person(s) using the courts must check in and check out at the Recreation Office.
Fitness Room
  • Everyone must sign in and out - No Exceptions!
  • Weights are to be put away after use.
  • Dropping weights is prohibited.
  • Fitness Room Door is to be closed at all times.
  • No outdoor shoes are allowed.
  • Fitness room maximum occupancy - 20.
  • T-shirts must be worn when lying or sitting on benches.
  • Personal stereo cassette machines are not allowed, but portable stereo machines (walkmans) with headsets will be allowed.
  • Fitness Room Music System is located in the Recreation Office. Personal tapes will be played by the Recreation Office Staff. Volume level will be controlled by the Office Staff.
  • Fitness Room age limit is 15 years, but 13 & 14 year old participants will be allowed to use the Fitness Room, if they have a guardian age 18 and over or have completed the Fitness Room Orientation Course.
  • No personal exercise equipment is allowed in the Fitness Room.
