Residential Spring Clean Up Week

Use of the landfill site will be free of charge from May 11 to May 18, 2019 inclusive for residents of the Township of Terrace Bay.  Public Works will do townsite pick-up from residential properties as per the schedule listed below Monday, May 13 to Wednesday, May 15, 2019 inclusive with no exceptions.   READ MORE

There will be no pick-up of tires or demolition material.  Large quantities of concrete will not be picked up (i.e. sidewalks or old foundations).  Tires, demolition material or concrete can be delivered to the landfill site by the property or business owner and regular rates will apply.  Demolition material includes roofing material, dismantled garage or shed, etc.

Residents are asked to place rubbish close to the roadside and in proper containers where necessary to permit easy access for loading by 7:00 a.m. on their scheduled pick up day.

Freezers or refrigerators require certification that refrigerant has been removed before they will be accepted for pick-up or disposal at the landfill site.

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) will not be collected or accepted.  A Household Hazardous Waste Day will be held on May 15, 2019.  Please see other side of this notice for details.

PLEASE NOTE:  Public Works will not pick up derelict vehicles, i.e. old cars, trucks or trailers.  These items can be delivered to the landfill site by the residential owner and no tipping fees will apply.

Note:   Pick up applies to residential properties only, commercial and business properties are not included.


A HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DAY WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 15, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Tourist Information Centre Parking lot.

Eligible materials include:  paint, stains, single-use batteries, propane tanks, pesticides, fertilizers, compact fluorescent lights and more.

Please Note:  Car batteries will not be accepted.  Please take car batteries to our local Automotive Repair businesses “Free of Charge”.

Electronic waste will not be eligible.  However, it can be dropped off at the landfill or picked up during Spring Clean-Up week. This will be the only Household Hazardous Waste Day held in 2019.
