The Ministry of Transportation will be carrying out the rehabilitation of McKellar and Ripple Creek Culvert, 36 and 38 km West of Marathon.
The construction will start in May of 2026 and is expected to finish by November 2026. The General Contractor is Bot Construction Group and Contract Administration is being performed by Bridge Way Engineering INC.
The traveling public is advised to be vigilant and slowdown in construction zones, traffic lanes may be reduced, and traffic control will be in place.

Job Posting: Economic Development Officer
The Economic Development Officer (EDO) will work towards advancing the Township’s Strategic Plan priorities related to economic development. The EDO will develop, coordinate, and implement initiatives that support business growth, economic diversification, and investment attraction within the municipality and facilitate connections between stakeholders (local businesses, entrepreneurs, regional partners) to strengthen the local economy.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in economic development, business administration, public administration, planning, marketing, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in economic development, community development, municipal government, business support, or project management considered an asset.
- Knowledge of government funding programs, grant writing, and economic development tools are considered assets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Experience working with businesses, community organizations, and stakeholders.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

Linked below are the 2025 Annual and Summary Reports for the Terrace Bay Drinking Water System. The Reports are based on information provided by Operators in accordance with Section 11 and Schedule 22 of O. Reg. 170/03, under the Safe Drinking Water Act. A confirmation of submission of the PTTW reporting, as required by O.Reg 387, is included as part of the report.
Please note that any Orders that you have received directly from the MECP or any major expense incurred by the Municipality which is not listed should be reviewed and added to the report.
As per Schedule 22 of O. Reg. 170/03, this Summary Report is to be provided to the members of the municipal council no later than March 31, 2026. Please ensure this distribution. Section 12 of O. Reg. 170/03, requires both the Summary Report and the Annual Report be made available for inspection by any member of the public during normal business hours, without charge. The reports should be made available for inspection at the office of the municipality or at a location that is reasonably convenient to the users of the water system.

Bylaw 29-2014 Spring Cleaning of Lawns
On Monday April 20, 2026 Council passed the following resolution:
“RESOLVED THAT Council approve temporary relief from by-law 29-2014 to allow residents to deposit winter sand on the street.
CARRIED”
All lawn sweeping must be done by June 2, 2026 as the last round of sweeping will be starting that day.

Do not pile the sand.
Leave it spread out no more than two (2) feet from the edge of the road so that it can be picked up by the sweeper.

Les propriétaires sont responsables du nettoyage de tous les débris de pelouse laissés sur la route après la fin des opérations de balayage du printemps et/ou de tout matériau interdit énuméré ci-dessus.
Les opérations de balayage municipal commencent généralement au milieu du printemps ou lorsque le temps le permet et se terminent au début du mois de juin. En plus de la propreté générale, les rues sont balayées deux fois pour empêcher le gravier et les gravillons de pénétrer dans le réseau d'eaux pluviales, ce qui diminue la capacité des eaux pluviales au fil du temps.
Residential Spring Clean-Up Week
Use of the landfill site will be free of charge from May 9 to May 15, 2026, closed May 10, May 12, and May 14 inclusive for residents of the Township of Terrace Bay. It will resume operation with regular hours and fees Saturday May 16, 2026. Public Works will do townsite pick up from residential properties as per the schedule noted below Monday, May 11 to Thursday May 14, 2026, inclusive with no exceptions. Pick up applied to residential properties only, commercial and business properties are not included.

Residents are asked to place rubbish close to the roadside and in proper containers where necessary to permit easy access for loading by 7:00 a.m. on their scheduled pick-up day.
Public Works will not pick up derelict vehicles, i.e., old cars, trucks, or trailers. These items can be delivered to the landfill site by the residential owner and regular tipping fees will apply.
Freezers or refrigerators require certification that refrigerant has been removed before they will be accepted for pick up. Freezers or refrigerators not certified and drained can be brought to the landfill anytime for a fee of $100.
PLEASE DO NOT DEPOSIT MATERIALS ELIGIBLE FOR THE HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DAY
The Township of Terrace Bay reserves the right to refuse or limit collection of materials where there is evidence of excessive accumulation, non-compliance with regular waste practices, or misuse of the Residential Spring Clean-Up Week program.
This program is intended to assist residents with seasonal clean-up of typical household items and is not intended for the disposal of accumulated household waste or ongoing refuse.

- Maximum quantity will be restricted to one dump truck load ou five (5) ½ ton loads per property;
- The Landfill Site Attendant has the right to turn away vehicles should they feel it is necessary. Any disagreements will be resolved through Public Works Manager at a later date.

- Compact fluorescent lights
- and more
Car batteries will not be accepted.
Please take batteries to our local Automotive Repair businesses “Free of Charge”.
Electronic waste will not be eligible.
However, it can be dropped off at the landfill or picked up during Spring Clean-Up week.
This will be the only Household Hazardous Waste Day held in 2026.
Aperçu
The Township of Terrace Bay has successfully received a new electric ice resurfacer for the Terrace Bay Memorial Arena, replacing a unit that served the community for more than 25 years.
This upgrade is part of the Terrace Bay Memorial Arena Capital Infrastructure Enhancements project, supported in part through funding from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC). The new equipment will improve ice quality, reduce operating and maintenance costs, and support a more sustainable and reliable arena operation for years to come.
Before arriving in Terrace Bay, the new ice resurfacer completed final on-ice testing in Italy, coincidentally during the same period as the Winter Olympics, before being shipped to Canada.

Council Visit and Equipment Walkthrough
Members of Council recently visited the Terrace Bay Memorial Arena to view the Township’s new electric ice resurfacer and receive a walkthrough from maintenance staff.
The visit provided an opportunity to see the equipment in person, learn about its features and operation, and better understand how it will support arena programming and maintenance moving forward.
The Township extends its thanks to maintenance staff for providing the walkthrough and sharing their expertise.

The CIP will provide a framework to guide future programs and potential incentive structures aimed at strengthening the local business environment and enhancing community vibrancy.
The Township has retained 807 Management Services to support this work, including direct engagement with local businesses to better understand opportunities, challenges, and priorities within the community.
As part of this process, local business owners are invited to participate in a short consultation.

Terrace Bay is fortunate to have naturally dark skies, offering a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of the night sky.
This April, we invite residents to take part in two global initiatives that celebrate and protect our night environment:

- Dark Sky Week (April 13–20)
What is Globe at Night?
Globe at Night is a worldwide citizen science campaign that invites people to measure light pollution by observing the night sky and submitting their findings.
It takes just 10 minutes to participate, and your observations contribute to real scientific research.

- Go outside at night (8–10 pm, at least 1 hour after sunset)

Arena Closure & Event Update
Please be advised that due to the ongoing curling club humidifier replacement project, the arena ice season will be extended by one week.
