Garbage and Recycling

Waste Collection

Roadside Waste Collection takes place on Tuesday of every week.

All containers must be placed out before 7:00 AM and may not be left out overnight the day before.

Terrace Bay currently employs a Pay-As-You-Throw system for roadside garbage collection. At a cost of $2.50 per garbage tag, the tag needs to be attached to the inside of each approved container on top of all the garbage, easily visible to Public Works staff.

Garbage Tags can be purchased at the Community Centre Office, Public Library and Drifters Esso Convenience Store.

To prevent wildlife issues, a garbage container must be used for roadside collections. For a container to be approved it must be constructed of either metal or plastic and have a tight-fitting lid, carrying handles and capable of being sanitized. Approved containers will have a maximum volume of 121 litres (or less) and weigh no more than 40lbs when collected, however, collection of waste will remain at the discretion of Public Works staff.

Approved Garbage Cans

A timed waste pickup system is available for all non-residential waste (from commercial, institutional, industrial and multi-residential entities), whereby users pay a fee based on the length of time required for Public Works staff to complete the collection.

Residential “Pay As You Throw” per garbage can: $2.50
