Kenogami Road Reconstruction

Kenogami Road Reconstruction

The federal and provincial governments delivered significant funding to support upgrades to critical water and wastewater infrastructure. Thunder Bay-Superior North MP Patty Hajdu announced that the federal government provided over $2 million through the Green Infrastructure Stream of the $180-billion Investing in Canada plan, while Ontario contributed more than $1.7 million to the north shore communities of Terrace Bay and Red Rock.

For Terrace Bay specifically, this funding allowed the township to move forward with the reconstruction of Kenogami Road, replacing outdated water mains, sanitary sewers, and storm sewers to reduce flooding risks. Manholes, catch basins, and catch basin leads were also installed, enhancing the township’s environmental protection measures. Mayor Jody Davis emphasized the significance of these funds, which allowed Terrace Bay to complete a high-priority project identified in its Asset Management Plan. The upgrades not only improved water quality and infrastructure reliability but also supported Terrace Bay’s adaptation to climate change by upgrading stormwater management systems.

Terrace Bay contributed $613,277 toward the project, underscoring the community’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure improvements. This collaborative effort between federal, provincial, and local governments represented a shared commitment to resilient infrastructure and environmental protection in northern Ontario.

This project was completed in 2 phases between 2017-2021.
