Residential Spring Clean Up Week – May 15 to 22, 2021

Notice to Residents – Spring Clean-Up Week.  Use of the landfill site will be FREE of charge from May 15 to May 22, 2021 inclusive for residents of the Township of Terrace Bay.

Landfill site will be OPEN from Monday, May 17 to Friday, May 21 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday May 22 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

The landfill site will be CLOSED from May 23 to May 25 inclusive and resume operation with regular hours and fees Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

Public Works will do townsite pick up from residential properties as per the schedule noted below Monday, May 17 to Thursday, May 20, 2021 inclusive with no exceptions. Pick up applies to residential properties only, commercial and business properties are not included.

Northside – (Hudson, Pine, Poplar, Birch, Laurier, Selkirk & Radisson)

Tuesday, May 18, 2021

Southside – (Kenogami, McDonald, Lakeview, Superior, Elizabeth, Fort Garry, Princess & Strathcona)

Thursday, May 20, 2021 
Terrace Heights Subdivision – (Terrace Heights, Terrace Court, Timber Grove, Timber Grove Court, East Grove, East Grove Court, Cavanaugh, Parkway & Southridge

There will be no pickup of tires or demolition material. Large quantities of concrete will not be picked up (i.e., sidewalks or old foundations). Tires, demolition material or concrete can be delivered to the landfill site by the property or business owner and regular rates will apply. Demolition material includes roofing material, dismantled garage or shed, etc.

Residents are asked to place rubbish close to the roadside and in proper containers where necessary to permit easy access for loading by 7:00 a.m. on their scheduled pick-up day.

Freezers or refrigerators require certification that refrigerant has been removed before they will be accepted for pick up or disposal at the landfill site.

PLEASE DO NOT DEPOSIT MATERIALS ELIGIBLE FOR THE HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DAY On June 4, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Tourist Information Centre Parking Lot. Eligible materials include paint, stains, single-use batteries, propane tanks, pesticides, fertilizers, compact fluorescent lights and more. Please Note: Car batteries will not be accepted. Please take batteries to our local Automotive Repair businesses “Free of Charge”. Electronic waste will not be eligible; however, it can be dropped off at the landfill or picked up during Spring Clean-Up week. This will be the only Household Hazardous Waste Day held in 2021. PLEASE NOTE: Public Works will not pick up derelict vehicles, i.e., old cars, trucks, or trailers. These items can be delivered to the landfill site by the residential owner and no tipping fees will apply.

Commercial, Industrial and Multi-residential Properties during Clean-Up Week

The intent of Clean-up Week is for Property Owners to clean up their lots and beautify the community. It is not the intent for the Municipality to accept waste from day-to-day operations. The following restrictions will apply:

  1. No steel, including but not limited to, vehicles and vehicle parts;
  2. No hazardous waste will be accepted;
  3. Municipality will only provide pick-up on residential properties;
  4. Maximum quantity will be restricted to one dump truck load or five (5) ½ ton loads per property;
  5. The Landfill Site Attendant has the right to turn away vehicles should they feel it is necessary.

Any disagreements will be resolved through Public Works Manager at a later date.  A fine of $500.00 will be assessed to anyone found dumping unauthorized waste in the landfill site.

Saturday May 22, 2021 – 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Closed: Sunday May 23, 2021 to Tuesday May 25, 2021

Resume operation with regular hours and fees: Wednesday May 26, 2021 1:00

Summer Hours: June 1, 2021 – October 15, 2021

2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
