Call for Local Committee and Board Members

Council is seeking volunteers for positions on all Committees and Boards during their new four-year term commencing January 2023.

If you have a specific interest and would like to share new input, ideas and suggestions, we hope you will consider one of the following positions:

LIBRARY BOARD
The Board governs the library and is responsible for setting the budget and policies.  Candidates should have experience in policy making and budgeting, some volunteer involvement in community organizations and knowledge of the Terrace Bay Community.  Meetings are normally held once a month.

POLICE SERVICES BOARD
The Board is the link between the Township of Terrace Bay and the Ontario Provincial Police.  They help resolve matters related to the operation and implementation of our O.P.P. services within Township boundaries.  Meetings are held a minimum of four times per year.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

The Community Development Committee is instrumental in the development of municipal economic and recreation policies, programs and facilities.  Meetings are normally held once a month.

WATERFRONT COMMITTEE
The Committee’s mandate is to make recommendations to Council on all matters referred to the Terrace Bay Waterfront Development Study:  To create a strategy and action plan for the enhancement and improvement of the Terrace Bay Waterfront Development area.

WINTERFEST COMMITTEE
To advise, develop and implement the annual Terrace Bay Winterfest event on behalf of The Town under the direction of Council and with assistance from Administration Staff.

SPORTS WALL OF FAME COMMITTEE
The Sports Wall of Fame Committee deals with Committee members who are responsible for the implementation of the Sports Wall of Fame Program.

SUPPORTIVE HOUSING COMMITTEE
This Committee deals with providing direction to help alleviate Terrace Bay’s Supportive Housing needs.

COMMITTEE OF ADJUSTMENT
The Committee of Adjustment makes decisions regarding minor variances from the requirements of the zoning by-law.  Meetings are held on an “as required” basis.

CEMETERY COMMITTEE
The Board advises Council regarding administration, management, care, maintenance and improvement of the Terrace Bay Cemetery.  Meetings are held a minimum of four times per year.

All current Committee and Board Members are encouraged to submit letters expressing continued interest.
