Roadside Waste Collection
Roadside Waste Collection takes place on Tuesday of every week. All containers must be placed out before 7:00 am and may not be left out overnight the day before.
For information about our curbside recycling, please visit the Diversion page.
Terrace Bay currently employs a Pay-As-You-Throw system for roadside garbage collection. At a cost of $2.50 per garbage tag, the tag needs to be attached to the inside of each approved container on top of all the garbage, easily visible to Public Works staff.
Garbage Tags can be purchased at the Terrace Bay Municipal Office, Public Library and Drifters Esso Convenience Store.
To prevent wildlife issues, a garbage container must be used for roadside collections. For a container to be approved it must be constructed of either metal or plastic and have a tight-fitting lid, carrying handles and capable of being sanitized. Approved containers will have a maximum volume of 121 litres (or less) and weigh no more than 40lbs when collected, however, collection of waste will remain at the discretion of Public Works staff.
Non-Residential Timed Waste Collection
A timed waste pickup system is available for all non-residential waste (from commercial, institutional, industrial and multi-residential entities), whereby users pay a fee based on the length of time required for Public Works staff to complete the collection.
The rates are applied as follows:
Residential "Pay As You Throw" per garbage can
Group A: <5 minutes
Group B: 5 to 10 minutes
Group C: 10 to 15 minutes
Group D: 15 to 20 minutes
Group E1: >60 minutes
Group E2: >120 minutes
Please Note: Businesses are not obligated to register for timed pickup. Similar to residential customers, businesses that produce a small amount of garbage each week may simply purchase garbage tags and place the waste out for roadside collection.
To register your business for the timed pickup service or if you would like more information, please feel free to contact the Township at (807) 825-3315 or email@example.com.
