Superior North Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC)

Superior North CFDC is a community-based, non-profit organization that is funded by the Federal Government of Canada to encourage and assist entrepreneurs with their pursuit of economic opportunities. Staffed by professionals and run by a board of local volunteers, they provide crucial support/training for potential business owners looking to start their businesses, as well as to existing businesses looking to improve. Superior North also provides access to capital financing for businesses.

BizPaL is jointly managed by a partnership involving governments at the federal, provincial, territorial and municipal levels. Provinces, territories and hundreds of municipalities have collaborated together to provide you with the permits and licences that may be required to start and grow your business.

Their goal is to provide your business with the resources it needs to grow and prosper, including a wide range of information on government services, programs and regulations. Canada Business Network promotes entrepreneurship and innovation, and provides assistance through an organized network of service centres across Canada. There is a centre in each province and territory working with partners in many communities across their region, providing you with numerous service access points.

FedNor

FedNor is the Government of Canada’s economic development organization for Northern Ontario. Its main funding vehicle, the Northern Ontario Development Program (NODP), focuses on three priorities, one of which is business growth and competitiveness. Thunder Bay & District Entrepreneur Centre (EC) – Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission

The Thunder Bay & District EC is a joint financial partnership between the Province of Ontario and the City of Thunder Bay. The main services that the EC offer range from providing information on various business topics to free, confidential one-on-one small business counselling, for both new and existing small businesses. Other services include: small business seminars, packages for Northwestern Ontario start-ups, information on financing and government programs, preparing a business plan, and referrals to other agencies/resources.
