The local economy has seen investment in the forestry industry with $45 million in 2008 for the development of energy cogeneration capability. The healthcare industry had a $7 million investment in 2009 for the McCausland Hospital Long-Term Care expansion (ongoing). The educational industry was invested in when the St. Martins Catholic and Ecole Catholique Franco Terrace School (co-located at the same site) was built in 2007 at an estimated cost of $5.5 million (including a new daycare). The service industry was invested in with $2 million for construction of a highway commercial property which is now complete with full services available. The Municipality has also reinvested a great deal in its water infrastructure in partnership with the Federal and Provincial government for the recently completed $13 million Water Treatment Plant Construction/Upgrades.
